Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

In each of the last ten years I’ve participated in some sort of challenging cycling event to raise money for the important work the Grand River Hospital does for our community. This year, we’re taken that challenge up a notch and we’ll be riding 200 km on mostly hilly gravel roads to raise funds for the hospital’s Neonatal ICU unit. Specifically, the 10 hour+ ride is to raise the funds needed for the hospital to buy  two Babyleo state-of-the-art incubator systems (I was actually quite premature myself, so this has a bit of a special meaning to me). Each unit costs $45,000 and we have a goal to raise one third of the total cost ($30,000). There’s also a private donor who will match our $30,000 as well.

The Babyleo is a cutting-edge system helping our tiniest patients thrive in an environment most like the one they just left. As tiny, premature babies have no fat at all to keep them warm, a computer system constantly monitors the baby’s temperature, keeping it at 98.6 by automatically turning on and off warmers in the crib. The Babyleo also gently mists sterile water to adjust the humidity as a preemie's delicate skin is not ready to be out in the dry air.

Together, we can help meet the most urgent needs of Grand River Hospital and ensure our friends, families and neighbours have access to exceptional care close to home.
